The Diffractive Method as Queer Imagination Technology: articulating monstrous promises, alien natures and cyborg virtues

Abstract
Delving into Donna Haraway’s The Promises of Monsters, we seek to explore her use of a cyborg version of Greimas semiotic square as a technology of imagination. Following four distinct “logics,” the author aims to reconfigure nature, a procedure that exposes her diffractive method. We intend to closely follow the operations proposed by Haraway, which will allow us to highlight her method as a technology for generating worlds consistent with neo-material, cyborg, SF, teratological, and inappropriate/d imaginaries. The most promising element offered by Haraway’s monstrous figures is a method for amplifying the ongoing fabulative virtues of our imagination: the diffractive method as a queer device for trans-si(gh)ting the real/natural/material techno(-political)-scientific triptych in the belly of the new world order monster.
